Description
Seventeen (17) 19th century English Majolica items, including one (1) Wedgwood match striker in mottled colors, marks on base, 3 1/4" H x 4 1/2" dia.; one (1) Wedgwood round plate with basketweave and crisscross border and mottled center, impressed marks to base, 9 1/9" dia.; one (1) Majolica tree bark pitcher with coconut tree decoration, marked "16" on base, 6 5/8" H; pair of round plates with daisy flower vine border and mottled colors center, unmarked, 1" H x 10 7/8" dia.; one (1) Majolica oval platter with swan handles and wide basket weave border, hand-painted "10" on base, 1 3/4" x 13" x 10"; three (3) majolica pineapple pattern pottery items including one (1) syrup pitcher with hinged pewter lid, 6 1/4" H, one (1) tea kettle, 7" H, and one (1) double-handled covered sugar, 4 3/8" H; set of five (5) asparagus plates with well, scalloped edge, basketweave border and asparagus cluster center, 4 of 5 marked with number to base, 9 3/8" dia.; one (1) Oak leaf platter with three applied acorns, unmarked, 2 1/4" x 13" x 9 1/2"; one (1) platter with impressed leaf and scroll design, mottled colors, unmarked, 14 3/8" x 10 1/2"; and one (1) small Begonia leaf dish, unmarked. Many pieces with old retailer labels to base. 18 items total, all English, mid-late 19th century. Provenance: The Estate of Judith E. Crosland, Knoxville, TN.
Condition
All in overall very good condition. No repairs noted. Some surface wear to glazes. Old 1 1/2" loss to foot on round Wedgwood plate. Few chips to interior rim of sugar bowl. Wear to rim begonia leaf dish.
