This lot consists of a hand-painted ink and watercolor illustration on paper, done in the style of modern pop artist Andy Warhol (American, 1928-1987). "Andy Warhol" is hand written in ink vertically at bottom right . Image depicts a hip woman dressed in 1950's garb. The woman is staring to the right at a lovely butterfly which landed on her cheek. The viewer is drawn to the woman's peaceful gaze. This elegant piece is done in the splashy, pop culture-inspired style for which Warhol is so well known. This painting would make a great addition to any modern art collector's gallery. Overall framed dimensions measure approximately 23.75" x 19.5", image sight measures approximately 15" x 10".

Paper label en verso gives the name and info of "STABLE GALLERY New York City" further information goes on to state " Artist: Andy Warhol" / "Title: Untitled" / "Medium: Ink & Watercolor" / "Date: 1966" / "Size: 15 x 10 Inches". A second red ink label reads " ANDY WARHOL" "Nov. 6 - Nov. 24" "PREVIEW Nov. 6 5-7" "STABLE GALLERY" "33 East 74th ST. New York, NY". Hand written in pencil is "Andy Warhol Untitled".

In May, 1999, ARTNews magazine named him one of the twenty-five most influential artists-ever. About him, it was written: . . . "it all began with the first Campbell's soup can in 1962. . . Piece is in overall very good condition. Paper has some age-related toning. Two vertical creases or slashes run through the woman's face, one is approximately 9" the other approximately 4". The image and the signature remain crisp and vibrant with color.
