This lot consists of a graphite illustration on paper, rendered in the style of constructivist painter Ivan Klium (Russian, 1873 - 1942/43). "I. Klium" is hand written in cyrillic at bottom right. Image depicts the side profile of a human figure. The face and background are intertwined with a series of geometric shapes and abstractions. This piece is a suburb example of the raw talent for which Klium is so well known. This piece would make a great addition to any modern collector's gallery. Ivan Kliun (Russian, 1873 - 1942/43) was a Russian painter, Avant-garde artist (Suprematist, Constructivist), graphic artist and sculptor. He was born in 1873 in Bolshie Gorki village (near Moscow) and studied at the Art School in Penza. In 1889-1890 he studied at the school of the Society of the Encouragement of the Arts in Warsaw. From 1890-1905 he studied art at the studios of F.Rerberg, Il.Mashkov and V.Fisher in Moscow. From 1907 to 1914 he studied at the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg.

Paper has some age-related foxing, mostly around the edges and not affecting the image. Some smudging and spots of discoloration. Overall image and signature are bold and crisp and show very well.
