American Federal Giltwood and Eglomise Mirror , late 18th c., surmounted by a carved spreadwing eagle, wheat-filled ewer finials, shaped cornice, beaded and foliate molding, Ionic capital, fluted columnar stiles, floral-block rope-turned base , h. 66 in., w. 24 in. Provenance: Estate of Noted Antiquarian James D. "Don" Didier. Note: The highly ornamented mirror offered here, featuring two elegantly painted verre églomisé panels, is closely related to similar a mirror from the collection of the Winterthur Museum and a New York-attributed mirror from the Kaufman Collection.
