Ancient Near East / Central Asia, Sassanian (Sasanian / Sasanid) Empire, ca. 4th to 6th century CE. A beautiful bowl with a concave base and rough pontil scar, rounded walls, a deep basin with a prominent central kick, and a thick rim, all free-blown from semi-translucent, sage-hued glass. The rim is decorated with a narrow strip of striated glass around the circumference, and the body is accentuated with dozens of pattern-molded facets. Scattered areas of faint silvery and rainbow-hued iridescence elegantly complement the soft spring hues of the bowl. Size: 5.125" Diameter x 2.3" H (13 cm x 5.8 cm).
