Description
**Originally Listed At $400**
Europe, purportedly Spain, ca. 18th century CE. A fascinating and unique piece, an iron agricultural tool in the form of a cross with downwardly curving lateral arms. Inscribed down the length of the lower arm is a name - either "J." or "T." and "Carcori" or "Carcort." Inscribed below that, at the very bottom, is a feather-like pattern above the letters "GAR." The construction of the piece is clear, with the lateral arms hammered into place over the long central bar. Its purpose is more elusive - like many farm implements from this time period, it was probably made by an enterprising farmer who had a specific task in mind. Size: 17" W x 27" H (43.2 cm x 68.6 cm); 32.75" H (83.2 cm) on included custom stand.
Provenance: private Omer Claiborne collection, Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, acquired over the last 40 years
All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
