**The "dark" you see on the part of the vase that goes into the base and the base itself is old grease. They used the grease to avoid the base chipping when removing it to clean. It can be cleaned off and new grease applied. I am too clumsy to do this and will leave it up to the buyer.
This is a very pretty epergne or trumpet vase, in white opalescent glass. It has a ruffled top and base with gold gilding. Some of the gilt has worn off. It has a very pretty pink serpent that wraps around the piece adorned with gold. The bottom has 4 etched lines as some type of makers mark possibly?
There are no chips, cracks, breaks, or fleabites. It is in mint condition except for the gold wear.
It stands 14 5/8" tall x 4 5/8" across the top of the vase, x 8 5/8" across the base of the vase.
