1888 Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs Fairy Tale Operetta THEATER Music Grimm
Clara Louise Burnham (May 25, 1854 – June 20, 1927) was an American novelist. She was one of six children, and the oldest daughter of Dr. George Frederick Root, the musical composer of this work.
This musical version of a familiar tale was a popular play of the early 1900s as is illustrated by the Music Educators Journal calling it a “steady best seller,” and “always a favorite.” The story is from Grimm’s Fairy Tales, and the story involves four acts. Music Educators Journal point out its interest by children by saying,
“In addition to the numerous parts and choruses for children, there are parts each for soprano, mezzo-soprano, tenor, and bass. The costumes should present no problems, and the music is catchy and tuneful throughout. Time of performance, two hours.”
This 1888 edition is complete with the sheet music, stage directions, and a charming illustrations of snow white and the seven dwarfs on the front cover!
