From Star Trek: The Motion Picture is this vintage original prop armband-style wrist communicator constructed of cast resin with a metal band, and painted creme with black detailing with reflective strip affixed to the top. Inside armband has written in pen, “Kirk".

Made by Brick Price, this is one of the few hero pieces which were fabricated from resin. All similar watches made for background personnel were made of vacuum-formed plastic. Exhibiting age and wear.

The collector who originally consigned this item to Profiles in History in 2012 tells the story of how, when Star Trek II prop master Joe Longo joined the production, he was given a box full of props from The Motion Picture that were not to be used on the sequel. Joe offered these props to a collector, who bought the box full of props, which included 3 resin hero communicators. This collector then offered these props around, and the collection was divided up.This story was confirmed by long-time Star Trek prop fabricator Michael Moore of HMS, who recalls seeing the box of props when he was young.

Unfortunaelty, the "kirk" provenance cannnot be prven, as no screencaps exists of Kirk wearing this wrist comm. The only screen cap where the wrist comm is visible, shows a different communicator.
