To many, Jeremy Brett was the definitive portrayal of Sherlock Holmes. This is Jeremy Brett's Pipe from the BBC TV show along with a rare autographed photo of Brett.

CURATOR"S NOTES:

Both the pipe and framed autographed picture came directly from the former estate of the late Jeremy Brett many years ago. An auction/charity house in the U.K. posted these two items on Ebay.U.K. which is how they came into the museum collection. What the auction house passed on to us was that the actor dropped the pipe or it fell during filming and the Meerschaum /porcelain top broke. I know many actors whom don't keep a thing from their work so Jeremy must have been fond of it. The pipe stem has teeth marks when Sherlock held it in his teeth and then talked. The lovely image of Sherlock with one of his pipes autographed by Jeremy also came from the estate sale. In regard to documentation it was an Ebay U.K. sale. No paper work came from the seller. Hope this helps it's exceedingly rare to acquire anything worn or used by Jeremy as Sherlock. It's been an honor to be the caretaker of these two pieces.
