Early 20th c. fishing themed bowl with pedestal base.
Depicts fisherman inspired by THE COMPLEAT ANGLER by Isaac (Izaak) Walton, first published in 1653. This bowl features five fishermen topped by a willow tree border and a green rim. Inside the rim are the verses THE JEALOUS TROUT, THAT LOW DID LIE, ROSE AT A WELL DISSEMBLED FLY. and MY HAND ALONE MY WORK CAN DO, SO I CAN FISH AND STUDY TOO. Signed by the artist in the glaze. Doulton backstamp on bottom.
