Rolex Wristwatch in stainless steel, ca. 1964, GMT master, gilt glass 1675, superlative chronometer, oyster perpetual, serial #876850. This watch belonged to Michael Katzev, who directed the underwater excavation of the 4th-century Greek merchantman known as the “Kyrenia Ship” from 1967-72 and later was co-founder of the Institute of Nautical Archaeology. Probably purchased circa 1964 when he joined his first underwater archaeological excavation out of Bodrum, Turkey.
