A pre 1945 type 98 Japanese Officer's "Gunto" sword with: wood lined painted metal scabbard, painted metal guard, cloth wrapped ray-skin hilt, brass blade collar, single brass mount, and cherry-blossom ornamented scabbard tip. Provenance: from a private Maryland collector L: 39 3/4" (101cm) W: 4 Lbs (1.8 Killograms) Condition: In excellent condition (despite age). The pommel tip seems very slightly crooked. Assorted scratches in the paint on the scabbard. The latch/ locking mechanism doesn't quite click into place.
