Produced during prohibition, for "medicinal" purposes. This bottle has been stored and cared for by the family of it's original owner. NOTE: This lot will be shipped from Detroit, Michigan..A history of the bottle, written by the consignor, follows:This batch was produced in 1913. It was age 17+ years and finally bottled in 1931. A close examination of the labeling were revealed that it says it is for medicinal purposes only. Remember 31 was during prohibition.The reason why this battle was never open also carries a unique story. It seems that the executive staff at Hillerich & Bradsby Co , Also known as Louisville slugger bats., H Friday night would indulge in a toast finalizing the end of the workweek. Each member of the executive team would have to supply a bottle in rotation for this purpose. My father, Louis Hubbuch, who was secretary treasurer of the company, Was in charge of this ritual. He would maintain a ledger sheet marking who was responsible for the next inventory items.In 1937 Louisville was hit by a disastrous flood of the Ohio River. This bottle of stored safely in the vault at the company’s office survived the flood in tact. As a result they decided not to open this bottle and hold it as a Momento of its successful survival.After dad retired he was given this battle. After his passing I received the bottle. This particular bourbon has seen a colorful passed. I can only imagine what it’s future might hold.I am quite sure that there are very few surviving bourbon bottles from the prohibition era. The box it’s contained in is also rather unique.
