Description
A SOUTH OR SOUTHEAST ASIAN PALM LEAF MANUSCRIPT, POSSIBLY INDIAN/BURMESE, 19TH/20TH CENTURY, composed of two long rectangular hardwood panel covers with faint black ink incised inscription centering a single pierced hole, opening to conforming palm leaf pages with similar black ink inscriptions and pierced with three holes, held together by a later rope cord laced through the central holes and suspending a worn bronze coin, including a conforming carved hardwood case with lid centering three incised symbols. Height: 3.00" Width: 21.75" Depth: 3.00"
Condition
Good condition for palm leaf books of this age, use and origin including but not limited to expected page yellowing and slight edge wear, normal age cracks, tiny chips on hardwood covers and rope cord is of a later date. The hardwood case has normal wear with some small chips, tiny surface marks and buildup.
