Condition: Good condition, save for a very minor mat line and a few stains and hinge marks in the outer margins.

The Dust Bowl as it is often called impacted the Midwest and southern Great Plains during the 1930's. The farmers and those that lived in the region faced not only an economic collapse but and environmental disaster caused by over farming and a drought that caused dust storms killing people and livestock.

Ernest Fiene (1894-1965) was born in Elberfeld Germany. He showed artistic talent early, however studied to become an engineer. He fled Germany before the beginning of WWI settling in New York City in 1912. He enrolled at the National Academy of Design school in 1914. He is a noted painted, watercolorist and printmaker, primarily lithography. His work is in many public collections.
