Peggy Bacon (1895-1988) printmaker, painter, illustrator, caricaturist was born on May 2, 1895 in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Although born in Connecticut he parents moved a lot, she lived in New York City, London, Paris, Nassau Bahamas. Her early education was through tutors. At the age of fourteen she attended Kent Place School in New Jersey. She studied at the Art Students League with Kenneth Hayes Miller, John Sloan and George Bellows. She was represented for years by Weyhe Galleries and the majority of her work are marvelous caricatures of human interaction. She was a keen observer and was able to use her observations in her art. Her work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum, Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim Museum to name a few.
