Pre-Columbian, Guatemala and southern Mexico, Maya, Late Classic Period, ca. 700 to 900 CE. A tall, narrow-mouthed redware cylinder vessel with a flat base and thick rim. The lower two-thirds of the body has deep vertical ridges in narrow bands down its length. Two further deeply incised horizontal bands mark this lower section from the area below the rim, which is encircled by glyphoid symbols, many of them zoomorphic. Remains of blue pigment are visible around the upper part of the body. Size: 4.5" W x 7.3" H (11.4 cm x 18.5 cm)

Condition
Two stable hairline cracks down from the rim. Wear and deposits, including pitting around the base, commensurate with age. Nice preservation of motifs and what looks like remains of blue pigment around the rim.
