Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Sican/Lambayeque culture, ca. 750 to 1370 CE. A lovely ceremonial drinking vessel, known as a kero, formed from a thinly-hammered copper sheet and shaped around a conical mold. The base is slightly convex yet still stable and gradually expands upwards towards the flared rim with a smooth lip. Scattered traces of silvering are visible across the exterior, though most of the walls exhibit the stunning golden-brown copper color beneath. Layers of green patina have formed within the interior. Size: 4.2" W x 6.2" H (10.7 cm x 15.7 cm).

Condition
Exterior has been professionally cleaned. Slight bending to overall form of rim and body, with minor abrasions to body and base, and fading to most silvering, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits within interior, and fine patina throughout.
