Description
A mid-19th century mahogany Grandfather clock by J. Cameron & Son of Kilmarnock, Scotland. This piece features a large hand-painted Roman numeral clock dial with brass arms, as well as a subsidary date dial and second dial. The clock face is bordered by hand-painted scenery with a figure at each corner, including a man with a flag and a woman with a harp. The top arch is decorated with a hand-painted design of a man plowing a field with the help two horses and reads "Burns at Plough". This piece has a twin drive-train movement, which strikes a bell and is encased in a square hood topped with a hand-carved foliate crest. Below this hood, is a bow-front trunk, which rests atop a simple box base terminating in four bun feet.
