A very large mid-20th century Iranian 875 standard silver vase, Isfahan circa 1960 by Muhammed Taghi
Of inverted baluster form, upon a single spreading pedestal foot with central knop, the flared rim with chased decoration. The main body with finely chased and engraved ghalam zani decoration, the front with a central panel showing female musicians gathered in a group with libations poured from long neck bottles, all reserved with a scalloped shape frame with chased grotesque masks. The obverse with a finally chased panel of floral sprays attended by birds similarly reserved. In-between these panels a profusely deep chased scenes of various animals amongst foliate scrolling plants, including; gazelle, monkeys gathering fruit fighting off birds, storks and two lion attacking gazelle. All between profusely decorated bands of foliate scrolls, birds and vegeatation (golo morgh). The concave shoulder with four vacant cartouches. Marked with standard mark and makers mark to neck interior.
