Description
Edvard Munch (FRANCE, 1863 - 1944) pastel work on paper depicting a fisherman with a crustacean trap. Verso with charcoal self portrait work of the artist. Unsigned. Mounted in a wooden frame with mat behind glass screen. Work measures approx. 14 1/4" height x 14 1/2" width (36.2cm x 36.8cm) to sight. Measures approx. 21" height x 20 1/2" width (53.3cm x 52.1cm) overall including frame. Provenance: examined by Pietro Maria Bardi and determined to be a work by Edvard Munch. Pietro Maria Bardi was an Italian writer, curator and collector, mostly known for being the Founding Director of the São Paulo Museum of Art in Brazil.
