Description
Pair Chinese 19 Century Armorial Porcelain 3-Part Soap Dishes with Chinese Figures between 2 coats-of-arms of the Colt Family of Connecticut, with three horses and the motto "vincit qui patitur" (the one who is patient wins); the porcelain with a well, strainer plate and cover in celadon with famille rose enamels. One soap dish set in good good condition, one set with a tiny chip to cover and the base well with 5 cracks re-stuck with small losses. Height with cover 2 1/2 inches (6.5 cm.) X width 5 3/4 inches (14.5 cm.). NOTE: Although undocumented, other porcelains with this crest and apparently from the same set of Chinese Porcelain have been offered at Auction as formerly "the Property of Samuel Colt."
