The surviving work of the 2nd-3rd century Greek writer, the Ephesian Tale of Anthia and Habrocomes, one of the earliest novels as well as one of the sources for Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Xenophon of Ephesus is not to be confused with the much earlier Greek historian and soldier, Xenophon of Athens.
The title page continues: Graece et latine recensuit supplevit emendavit latine vertit adnotationibus aliorum et suis illustravit indicibus instruxit Aloys. Emeric. liber baro Locella.
Condition
Some rubbing top joints and edges, a few scuffs to covers; moderate foxing to title page and sparsely within, hinge cracking before title; very good.
