Regence Kingwood and Marble-Top Commode

18th century, the shaped marble top above a conforming bombe case fitted with two short drawers flanking a small drawer, over two long drawers, all banded and inset with floral-inlaid panels, raised on splayed legs ending in sabots.

In very good polished and restored condition. The piece exhibits normal shrinkage, wear, past veneer repairs and indications of age and use. The case is tight and very solid, with no movement observed at its frame joints. The marble top has been broken and professionally repaired. There are a few shallow losses/flakes to the perimeter edges. Drawers slide smoothly. Locks are present; no key. There are some scattered shrinkage tears and veneer irregularities. There is one loose piece of veneer at the apron near a front leg.
