LARGE LIVERPOOL CREAMWARE PITCHER
late 18thC., transfers include a cartouche of George Washington centering names of the first 15 states, a three-masted ship flying an American flag with 16 stars, and an American eagle with ‘E Pluribus Unum’ banner exhibiting 13 stars (below the spout), 8.75in.
Provenance: Accompanying the pitcher is a 1969 Rhode Island ‘Public Auction’ notice (addressed to Lou Allaria) citing the pitcher as being donated by Mrs. John Nicholas Brown; property of a gentleman bequeathed by his father Lou Allaria.
Condition: Old restorations include an obvious restoration to underside of base correlating to bottom interior with some flaking of old paint, UV light reveals small areas of restoration to rim, spout, and a few scattered areas to body, gilding well worn, soiling.
