A handsome matted display dedicated to American humorist Samuel Clemens (1835-1910), featuring his signed real name AND signed nom de plume -- a truly rare dual autograph!
The cream business card is inscribed and signed by Clemens as "Yr Truly / SL Clemens / Mark Twain." It is displayed below a black and white portrait of the writer after the original Mathew Brady photograph, ca. 1871. Nicely displayed within a crisp cream mat. The signed business card measures 3.625" x 2.125" while the overall matted size is 7.25" x 11.875".
Samuel Clemens/Mark Twain began his 50-year-long writing career as a Western journalist, later producing many well-beloved novels, short stories, travel accounts, and essays. Twain followed up the popular and critical acclaim of Tom Sawyer (1876) with other adventure and fantasy tales, including The Prince and the Pauper (1881), The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884), and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court (1889).
