Description
Leon Arnoux (attributed) for Minton, an Aesthetic Movement tazza, circa 1862, the stem modelled as three storks supporting a beaded knop and shallow dish, gilt decorated with stylised leaf and vine decoration in the style of Owen Jones and Christopher Dresser, the foot similarly decorated with painted pearls and bordered in tooled gilt ropework, puce ermine mark, 15cm high, 13.5cm diameter Note: references to a number of similar tazzas with parian heron or stork supports, appear in the cost book for the London Exhibition 1862, with the head designer listed as Leon Arnoux. A similar tazza is in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. See Stoke Archives SV1705/MS1467
