Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A fine cylindrical jug, free-blown from near-opaque, pale-green glass with a slightly concave base and a smooth pontil scar, a rounded shoulder which tapers to a narrow neck, a funnel rim, and a wide trail handle joining neck to shoulder. Thick, fiery layers of iridescence in silvery, golden, and rainbow hues provide a burst of color to the vessel's soft spring hues. Size: 3.125" W x 6.25" H (7.9 cm x 15.9 cm).
Provenance: private Southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s

Condition
Reconstructed from multiple pieces with small areas of restoration and light adhesive residue along break lines. Minor nicks to handle, rim, and body, with light weathering film and encrustations. Nice earthen deposits and fabulous silver, gold, and rainbow iridescence throughout.
