Egypt, Romano-Egyptian Period, ca. 1st century CE. A set of cast-bronze incense-burning vessels formed via the lost wax (cire perdue) method. Both burners have a cylindrical body with pattern-molded ribs, a small central opening, and eight projecting triangular flower petals which form the outer rim. One burner is of a miniature size, with the second burner dwarfing the first by comparison. Each burner is covered in light and dark green patina. Size of largest: 2.375" W x 2.425" H (6 cm x 6.2 cm).
Provenance: private Orange County, California, USA collection, acquired before 2000

Condition
Tip of one petal repaired on larger burner with small nicks and light adhesive residue along break line. Both items have surface wear commensurate with age, light fading to pattern-molded details, and light roughness across most surfaces. Nice earthen deposits and green patina throughout.
