Description
3rd-2nd millennium BC. A ceramic idol wearing a conical headdress with long lappets, slit mouth and deep recesses to the eyes. 46.3 grams, 12cm (4 3/4"). Ex North London gentleman; previously in the private collection of the late David Gold, formed 1980-1990s. David Gold amassed a sizeable collection of Indus Valley pottery, both vessels and figurative during his retirement, a plaque to David and his brother was recently unveiled by Westminster Council above 43 Carnaby Street, commemorating their business that made Carnaby Street synonymous with fashion in the 1960s. [No Reserve]
