Description
2nd-3rd century AD. A group of four intaglios comprising: an ellipsoid carnelian with engraved image of a female, holding a long stemmed flower(?) in her outstretched hand; a domed circular haematite intaglio with engraved bust of a female with elaborate hairdo, facing left; an ellipsoid carnelian intaglio with engraved helmetted bust of a bearded man, facing left; a circular carnelian intaglio with engraved images of a bird, crayfish, bow and arrow, and scales within a rectangular frame. 6.96 grams total, 14-20mm (1/2 - 7/8"). From a private Belgian collection; previously part of a private collection formed in Germany in the 1990s. [4, No Reserve]
