9th-12th century AD. An iron axehead comprising a bulbous socket with baluster to each end, bearded blade with curved edge, short blade to the rear. 1.2 kg total, 21cm including stand (8 1/4"). From the family collection of a South East London collector; formerly acquired in the late 1950s.

Very fine condition. Professionally cleaned and restored.
