* A QAJAR LACQUERED PAPIER-MÂCHÉ PEN CASE (QALAMDAN) PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT EUROPEAN PRIVATE COLLECTION Iran, dated 1270 AH (1853) and ascribed to Najaf 'Ali With rounded ends and sliding tray, polychrome-painted and heightened with gold against light brown ground, the top and sides painted with horizontal figural composition with portraits of youths, lovers, and court scenes, the background decorated with floral bloom, birds and sprinkled gold dust on light brown ground, the internal tray and the underside with gold interlocking tendrils and stylised lotus flowers on red ground, signed Ya Shah Najaf (Najaf 'Ali) and dated 1270 AH;  23.7cm long. * Please note that this lot is subject to import VAT at a preferential rate of 5% on the Hammer Price and the prevailing rate on the Buyer’s Premium.
