While in prison, Union Lieutenant Allen O. Abbott wrote a detailed description of his time in captivity. These manuscripts became known as “Prison life in the South” which included descriptions of various prisons in George and South Carolina – most notably Andersonville. A curious section of this work includes H.B. Seeley’s imprisonment among negroes.
