[Antarctic/Byrd] Heimbinder, B.A. White Conquest, An Epic of Antarctica. Privately printed, New York, 1934. Frontispiece by Hilton Mirkinson. #68/270. 8vo. Original black and purple binding. In black slipcase. Poetry inspired by Richard E. Byrd’s first Antarctic expedition from 1928-1930.
Provenance From the personal library of William E. Davies (1917-1990), USGS (United States Geological Survey) geologist, polar explorer, and recipient of the Antarctic Medal from US Congress. His work took him to Greenland, the Appalachian Mountains of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia, and in Antarctica - where the Davies Escarpment is named after him; his bibliography contains more than 200 titles.
Condition Very good. Slipcase sunned and rubbed. Ownership inscription of William E. Davies on front free endpaper.
