WCE Guard Sword 1893 Chicago World Columbian Exposition Rare 1707. You are looking at a rare sword. This is a Brass and Steel Blade Exposition Guard's Sword from the World's Fair Columbian Exposition held in Chicago, 1893. This sword was made specifically for the Chicago 1893 World Columbian Exposition. It was worn by the guards to carry as their sidearm and is marked WCE on the hilt and WCG on the blade and is numbered 1707. It is 26 1/4" long. The blade measures 20" and has oxidation in a few places as well as a dark black patina, aside from that the blade is in good shape. The brass hilt has some dings and dents but nothing I would call major (See photos). The wooded grip is intact although it does have some chipping and scratches, none go very deep. Overall this is a fine specimen of a rather rare sword. Weighs 1.11 lbs.
