Description
A General Motors (Electro Motive Division) diesel locomotive builder's plate from Canadian Pacific Railway locomotive 8414. This is EMD serial number "A-501". This must be a number associated with MLW or be a special Canadian designation used at LaGrange. It has a build date of February 1953. The CPR only had 2 of these GP7s. I couldn't even find a picture of it. The reverse says it was retired after a fire in 1970 and 1974. It's a standard "hot-dog" measuring 15" by 4".
Some interesting information from Canada: Canadian Pacific had 17 GP7’s (#8409-8425) The “A” is a Canadian designation given to show it was built by General Motors Diesel Division of London Ontario Canada, it’s just a Canadian subsidiary of La Grange Illinois Electro-Motive Diesel Division.
