"East Lynn" Vintage circa 1880's, full color Lithographed Poster stamped: "S & Co / Stafford & Co Ltd., Netherfield near Nott'm / Reg Design No 2602": in a square in the lower left corner; framed. Appears in good condition with short tears to the top margin, not examined out of frame. Height of art 28 inches (71 cm.) X width of art 18 inches (45.5 cm.). NOTE: "East Lynne", originally an 1861 best selling British novel was successfully adapted for the stage and then for films for the next 90 years with the original title or variations and at one point in the late 19 century there were 3 competing versions on the New York Stages at the same time. The tear-jerker line, "Gone, Gone ! and never called me Mother." is from East Lynne. This poster would appear to be an all purpose stage poster to be applied above a list of the Theater, Dates and Actors.
