A Hoen & Co. Framed Tobacco Ad circa 1888 - Mint Condition
A German immigrant, August Hoen founded his lithographic company in Baltimore in the mid 1850's. Around a decade later he relocated to Richmond, Virginia, and became best known for his layered, five-color printing techniques. A. Hoen & Company was responsible for some of the most elaborate and beautiful images in this medium using Chromolithography in the latter 19th century.
