The pendant is a large oval shaped filigree frame with inset black onyx and a diamond encrusted "E", and is engraved "To Elvis, International Hotel, April 15, 1969" on the back of the piece. According to the accompanying letter of authenticity, Elvis was gifted this piece for the opening of the International Hotel in Las Vegas, and he took the stage on July 31st, 1969 after a protracted eight years absence from live performances. The sold out show marked a historic milestone in Elvis' career and is recognized as one of the most electrifying moments in the King's monumental career. This triumphant return marked the beginning of his renaissance and his long, popular stay in Las Vegas. The piece was acquired from the estate of Dr. Elias Ghanem, who was Elvis' trusted Las Vegas physician. This necklace was one of many items Elvis gave Dr. Ghanem in the 1970s, as Elvis would often stay at the doctor's home inside the Las Vegas Country Club which was located directly behind The International Hotel (later the Las Vegas Hilton). Elvis had a record 837 consecutive performances at The International from 1969 to 1976, and often stayed in Dr. Ghanem's guest bedroom. The piece will be accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Dr. Ghanem's wife Jody, along with a notarized master copy of the pieces sold by Mrs. Ghanem in 2016. The necklace will also be accompanied by a second letter of authenticity from "EP Archives" of Las Vegas, Nevada, indicating that the offered piece was among the items purchased from the Jody Ghanem in 201.
