Description
Up for Auction is a very nice Antique Japanese Wakizashi made by the Swordsmith Yoshinaga, signed, “Omi no Kami Fujiwara Yoshinaga” who was active between 1596-1615. This smith is rated Jo Saku. This sword has a beautiful hamon and is in old polish. The nakago is signed, unshorted (original), and has one mekugi hole. This sword is dressed in high end koshirae starting with a two piece silver and copper habaki. The exquisite fuchi and kashira are shakado with the fuchi having gold highlights. The menuki’s are very detailed shakado and gold (see pictures). The wrap is tight and original. The tsuba is iron and matches the menuki’s with it’s wrapped around wing design. At one time it too was highlighted with gold. Overall an excellent, signed Japanese sword in beautiful fittings.
