18th/19th century Turkish Illuminated Quran Book, Koran. signed and dated AH 1235 and written by Abd Al-Daeef Al-Mushtaq, (written in AlWaraq city, Egypt under Ottoman Empire) Illuminated Arabic Manuscript Koran. size: 7 3/4 x 5 inches. written surface: 6.8 x 12.6 cm; 15 lines to a page, in clear, elegant and uniform naskhī script, in black ink, on beige paper. The text is vocalized throughout. There are two handsomely illuminated pages in the beginning. All verses are separated by gold discs. All pages are ruled in several of gold and blue. The divisions of the Koran are marked by colorful medallions on the marginal. There are tens of such medallions. The style of calligraphy, the decorations, and the illuminations indicate that it is an Ottoman Turkish Koran from the eighteenth century. The Koran is complete ending in du`aÂ’ al-khatm (prayer for completing the text).original binding, with a flap in the traditional Islamic bookbinding. few pages with smudges. otherwise in good condition..
