Lega Peoples, Idimu Type Mask. Maniema Region, D.R.Congo. Early 20th C. Medium dense wood with encrusted, varied, darkened, shiny patina; faint traces of white kaolin pigment. Size: 7.75 x 4.5 in. (wood mask only) Overall about 12" with raffia beard. Very fine condition, with some abrasions and older losses. Provenance: Old private collection, Ohio, since the 1960's.
