Signed by Laura Richards and the publishers at the limitation, and signed by etcher W. H. W. Bicknell on the first etching. Rare deluxe large paper edition, handsomely bound. Also included is a single page signed, typed letter by Laura Richards, thanking the recipient for birthday letters and promising to send books. The letter is dated March 23, 1936.

Richards' mother was Julia Ward Howe, author of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic". Richards and her sister wrote the biography of their mother, for which she received the Pulitzer Prize for Biography. Captain January was made into a popular movie starring Shirley Temple
