Louis XV Marquetry-Inlaid and Ormolu-Mounted Kingwood Corner Cabinet

18th century, the broken-arch pediment with a central plinth above a glazed door, the base with a marquetry-inlaid door and raised on bronze feet.

**In good "as found" condition, exhibiting wear, past restorations, including veneer patches using both veneer and filler, scuffs, small losses, shrinkage, shrinkage tears to the veneer and other indications of age and use.

The upper section has two pieces of loose veneer, about 1/2" x 3/4" and 3/4" x 2-1/2", that are detached but present. At the crest, there are a number of shrinkage tears in the veneer. The interior retains an old velvet lining and a shallow drawer.

The parquetry door exhibits normal shrinkage to the veneers and a vertical shrinkage crack down its length. It retains a lock and key. There is an area of filler above one front leg suggesting a repair at the top of the leg.
