Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. An endearing pair of miniature free-blown glass flasks - the taller made from colorless glass (though covered with beautiful iridescence) and the other of brilliant blue-green hues. Both present precious curvaceous forms - the taller with a hemispherical body leading to a tubular neck and a flared rim that resolves in a rolled rim - the shorter one with an almost hourglass form and a rolled rim as well. On the dimpled base of each is a broken pontil scar inherent to the original process. Lovely areas of silvery and rainbow iridescence grace the surfaces of these lovely pieces! Size: the taller vessel measures 1.125" H (2.9 cm)

Condition
Earthen encrustations on interiors and small areas of exteriors. Each vessel possesses a pontil scar or mark which indicates that the vessel was free-blown. (The absence of such a mark would suggest that the work was either mold-blown or that the mark was intentionally smoothed away or wore away over time.) Near choice with marvelous iridescence!
