French, 19th century. Pair of matching majolica insect musician motif jardiniere pots each with circular opening with gadrooned border above incurvate body with standing bugs including a grasshopper playing a horn and another bug playing the cymbals on diaper patterned blue glazed ground and green plants above a square curved base terminating on scrolled feet.. Marked on underside with S mark. Height 8.5", diameter of opening at top 8".

Both overall with glazing and firing imperfections. Crazing to glaze. One with small chip to top rim. Same with chip to foot and hairline crack to another foot. Same jardiniere also with crack to lower body--can be seen from interior.
