Unusual Large Size Hand-forged Spike Style Candle Holder
c. 1770 Colonial to Revolutionary War Era, Spike Style Candle Holder Lighting Device, Hand-forged Iron, Large 10.25" long, Very Fine.
This unusual early lighting piece is quality and has nice eye appeal for display. It measures about 10.25" long with the candle holder portion, and upper right "side hook" is about 2.25" tall reinforced in position with solder. This special design type of Candle Holder would be hammered into a wooden item such as a tree, pole, or beam or simply hooked onto something. It being ingeniously designed and meant to provide a candle light source under multiple, diverse circumstances.
