Such a fun find. Unsure whether these are the original buttons, although they appear to be. This button sampler book is dated August 1829 and comes from John Walker late Walker Brothers Hardware in Birmingham. The front of the hard cover booklet has all the company information attached to the front, but as shown, a lot is worn or torn away over time. Most of what can be read is above and continues with Card No. D518 Gilt Plated VC (?) Buttons Discount 25%, possibly Shelf No. and the date. Hand written is what appears to be R John Wells above the date. Booklet has several empty spaces and holes for buttons to be inserted and contains 12 buttons in varying sizes. There are many holes in the front hard cover and is splitting at the spine. Approx measures 8" x 4 3/4".
